Inform yourself now and find a suitable coronavirus test faster and more easily. Vaccination, testing and the DHM+A rule: effective together against coronavirus

+ Self-test

With the help of the directions for use, even laypersons can test themselves using the antigen self-test. The test result is valid for a maximum of 24 hours. You can identify tests of certified quality on the basis of the CE-marking or a special marketing authorisation number from BfArM (the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices).

When?

Situation: no suspicion of infection, no symptoms; for example, a planned attendance at family celebrations, visiting friends, attendance at school or kindergarten, weekly testing at work.

> Preventive testing, protecting others

How?

Available over-the-counter at pharmacies, drugstores and shops. Suitable for self-testing at home.

Duration?

The test person obtains the result him/herself using the test strip and the directions for use.

What now?

Arrange an appointment for testing with your doctor or by dialling: 0800 0000837.

++Rapid test

In the case of the rapid antigen test, a sample is taken by trained personnel and evaluated on the spot. You receive a certificate of the test result that is valid for a maximum of 24 hours.

When?

Situation: no suspicion, or suspected case, before taking a flight to Germany, no symptoms or after contact with persons infected with COVID-19 or a planned attendance at family celebrations, visiting friends, attendance at school or kindergarten, weekly testing at work.

> Preventive testing, protecting others

How?

Carried out by trained personnel, for example at doctors’ surgeries or test centres (also at airports, train stations and on motorways). All symptomless citizens are entitled to a free test at least once per week.

Duration?

Result?

Trained personnel determine the result using test strips and issue a written or digital certificate.

What now?

Arrange an appointment for testing with your doctor or by dialling: 0800 0000837. Test centres can immediately arrange for a follow-up PCR test.

+++Laboratory test

In the case of the PCR test as well, trained personnel remove a sample from the nose or throat. The evaluation takes place in the laboratory. Although the test takes longer because of the scientific examination, it is also very reliable. It is considered the gold standard.

When?

Situation: if you have symptoms, are suspected of being infected or have tested positive with a rapid test or self-test.

> Diagnosis

How?

Carried out by trained personnel, for example at doctors’ surgeries and in test centres (following a positive rapid test). Sample most often taken from the nose or throat.

What now?

The testing station transmits the result to the competent health office. The instructions given by the health office are to be observed.
